Family-Owned Farm in the Heart of Wells, Maine

Crooked Brook Farm is owned and operated by husband-and-wife team, Ryan Liberty and Colleen Bovaird. They purchased their property on Meetinghouse Rd back in 2014
and Ryan had the vision of the wooded acreage becoming an honest-to-goodness Christmas tree farm! Year over year, Ryan would clear an acre of matured forest and plant a season’s worth of balsam firs. The result is a 4000-tree choose & cut farm that first opened to the public for Christmas 2023.

“Colleen, this looks like THE PERFECT place to start a Christmas tree farm – how about it?”

“I love Christmas…okay!”

9 years later, our vision was realized: we opened our farm to families for Christmas 2023.  Follow our journey below:

“I love Christmas…okay!”

9 years later, our vision was realized: we opened our farm to families for Christmas 2023.  Follow our journey below:

The first months of each year were spent clearing—sweat-soaked days of cutting, hauling, and making way for the year’s planting. Every stump pulled, every rock moved, brought us one step closer to our vision. Then came the planting, row after row of tiny seedlings, barely reaching our knees but full of promise.

With each passing year, our trees grew both in size and numbers – Crooked Brook Farm was slowly taking shape.

Finally, for Christmas 2023, we welcomed families to the farm. The joy we got from watching people walk through the rows in search of the perfect tree to take home, and seeing families enjoying cider, s’mores and baked apples by the fire, made all the effort worth it!
